Artist Description

This rare and beautiful figure by Milles, is the artists first portrayal of an angel.  The lifetime casting with its exquisite parcel-gilt surface was made in an edition of twelve, at the Herman Bergman foundry in Stockholm, Sweden.

New Yorkers may recall Milles fantastic “Fountain of the Muses” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, now installed at Brookgreen Gardens Museum in South Carolina.  His “Man and Nature”, 1937 is installed at One Rockefeller Center, New York.

Renowned worldwide, Milles emigrated to America in 1929 and was the professor of sculpture at the Cranbrook Academy of Art.  The artists home in Stockholm, Millesgarden is a museum dedicated to his work.
